Mindful Musings

As human beings, one of the fundamental laws of nature we are charged with in our lives is to love ourselves. This means loving your body, mind, and spirit completely.  All to often we judge, not only others, but mainly ourselves. We compare, critique and dislike what we have been given by the Divine. In order to start the journey, we must learn to love ourselves just as we are right this moment.  This is a favorite poem of mine, and I hope it gives you some inspiration to love your perfect self.

Our Deepest Fear

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.
It is not just in some; it is in everyone.

And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously give
other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.
~Marianne Williamson

Will you go forward today and let your light shine?  I know from experience that some days we don’t want to shine our light, we would rather hide away in darkness.  Letting your light shine, as the poem indicates, liberates not only yourself from fear, but others.  Imagine for just a moment what the world would look like if everyone were free of fear!  I see a world rich in peace, tolerance, love and great joy.  It starts right now with you.  Do one thing today to let your light shine and see how it affects others and in turn your own space and voice.
