Opening

The mind is a powerful tool, one of our most powerful and yet we try to turn it off, or we allow it too much time wandering.  We must open and access our hearts and allow our mind to become quiet, and I don’t mean thinking about the laundry, but rather our creative joy.  I think we all to often get mired down in the life we have created and don’t open ourselves up to joy, perhaps feeling that yes the laundry does need to be done, or that we somehow don’t deserve joy.  We all deserve to be open to joy and happiness.  It is our connection with the earth and universe and one we should not deny ourselves.

It is important to remember if you have denied (and most certainly we all have) yourself this opportunity to be open to joy that you don’t waste time beating yourself up.  Start here, today, with an open heart to joy and see what comes your way!  Even if you have suffered great loss, and many have and/or we will as it is the human condition, you can still open your heart to the simple aspect of joy.  The joy of the smell of coffee in the morning, the spring flowers budding outside your door, or just the longer day light hours that exist in the Northern Hemisphere.  These are reasons to be joyful, it need be nothing big and in fact joy is best found in the simple aspects of living, for after all if you are looking for it in things like cars, houses, jewelry, that is an attachment and ego driven.  Just look simply, open your eyes and feel that pure joy.

Do you recall what it felt like to be a kid and step out onto the dew covered grass in the morning, perhaps still in your nightgown or pajamas?  What pure joy that felt like?!  It is possible to feel that way right this moment, you simply need to open your heart.  I am opening mine right this moment, just thinking about such simple child hood days, and now I am noticing by holding onto this feeling the budding lilacs outside my window, and their sweet fragrant smell and in this moment life is pure, honest, and oh so wonderful.  Try it right now, find something to open your heart to and you will carry that with you throughout the day.  Take notice as to how your day feels when you allow your heart to be open.
