Symphony of Life

Your head’s like mine, like all our heads; big enough to contain every god and devil there ever was. Big enough to hold the weight of oceans and the turning stars. Whole universes fit in there! But what do we choose to keep in this miraculous cabinet? Little broken things, sad trinkets that we play with over and over. The world turns our key and we play the same little tune again and again and we think that tune’s all we are.

What thoughts are wavering through your head right this very moment?  For me, as of late they are thoughts of loneliness, not in terms of being alone, for I am quite comfortable with myself most days.  It is the thought of growing older and not being in relationship.  It is tempting to keep playing with the sad broken trinkets of past relationships, playing the same tune again and again.  What if you could have a totally different relationship starting today?  Doesn’t that sound wonderful?  It does to me, and I know it is right there in my own heart.  It is my choice, as it is yours, what I want to do with today and how I want to shine my light, or not, into the world.  I would very much like to be in relationship again, and I am setting that as an intention.  How will you set your intention for whatever it is you want in life?  Action is the verb, you must take action for without any action you will sit and wait forever.  Think about what you can do today; right this very moment to offer homage to the longing of your heart and soul.  It can begin with prayer, meditation, or a quiet space in nature to reflect on what is calling to you.  The next step is to take action toward that calling.  Without any action, it will continue as an elusive dream seemingly existing just outside of your reach.  However, it is all within our reach if we make the decision to take action.  Let your tune be greater than a single note, let it be a symphony, the symphony of your life.
